An E2 Visa is a visa that allows for a person who is from a treaty country entry into the United States with the intention of directing a business that he or she is invested in or in which he or she is in the process of investing in. This person could also be in the process of starting a new business in the United States and needs a way to live in the country. This visa is very beneficial to business professionals around the world and it is important to consult with a business immigration attorney to make sure that you are in the best position possible to receive one of these visas.

What Are The Advantages Of An E2 Visa?

There are major advantages to applying for and receiving an E2 Visa if you are looking to start a business or help operate a business that you are invested in. Some of the advantages that come along with being an E2 Visa holder are:

  • The ability to legally work in the United States.
  • Ability to travel freely in and out of the United States.
  • Your spouse will have the ability to work in the United States with an E2 Dependent Visa.
  • Children under the age of 21 can attend school in the United States.
  • There is no minimum amount necessary to invest in a business.

How Long Does An E2 Visa Last?

When considering whether to invest in a US business or move to the United States to run that business, it may be important to know how long you will be able to stay in the country with the business. An E2 Visa holder will have the ability to stay in the country for 5 years after receiving their visa. These visa holders though will have the ability to file for extensions two years at a time as long as they remain eligible for the E2 Visa. There is not a limit on the amount of extensions that can be granted to an E2 Visa holder.
